Much more than tagging on a new language selector, I redesigned the translations feature on the website for improved recognition regardless of someone’s native language. I led the discussions to develop a strategy for employing a combination of machine translation, human edits, and Google translate to cover all bases, a process for managing translations of new pages, detecting someone’s native language before we load the site, seeking support and reporting issues with translations. As the development team was working on implementing these translations, I also led a usability testing project (mentioned above) to test the work in progress translations updates with native speakers of Mandarin to identify areas of improvement.
